Meet Joshua
Founder
Joshua Alonzo is a classically trained clarinetist born in Burbank, California. His musical journey began in fourth grade on electric guitar, later turning to the saxophone that his self taught father had played.
Joshua played alto saxophone through his middle school and high school years, picking up tenor saxophone in his sophomore year and clarinet in his senior year of high school. These 7 years engrained in him the desire to pursue music as a career and attend community college as a music major where he experienced his first introduction to formal lessons.
In 2020, as Joshua searched for outlets to pass the time at home, he took the opportunity to focus on clarinet. Joshua attempted to pursue clarinet as his primary instrument as he transferred to California State University, Northridge. While ambitious, this first year was full of struggle and Joshua determined it best if he stepped away to improve. This following year of private lessons on the clarinet had made a vast improvement in his playing, showing him how truly valuable private instruction is.
After returning to CSUN feeling fully prepared, he now is in his senior year preparing for his senior recital. While initially pursuing formal teaching in public education, he has now turned his sights towards individual instruction to be that same spark to others as his teachers were to him. Joshua believes that music should be an outlet for people to express themselves and an opportunity to find community with those around them.
